Introducing Impact Boxing, where we are dedicated to making a positive impact on the lives of youths in tameside aged 11-19 through the power of boxing.


Alongside our boxing training, we offer a range of services that promote academic success and personal growth. Our core values of self-belief, self-discipline, respect, integrity, inclusivity, sportsmanship, teamwork, and continuous learning are instilled in every aspect of our program. In addition to our gym services, we have designed bespoke intervention packages for schools and private organizations. These packages, rooted in the core values of England Boxing, aim to provide support and guidance to students who may have faced challenges in mainstream schools. Our team of dedicated staff works closely with students, promoting both technical and academic achievement.

Impact Boxing Gym is a dynamic institution with a powerful mission: to keep children in education by providing them with a unique opportunity to attend a provisional school for 11-16 year olds. With a strong focus on boxing, our goal is to have a positive impact on their lives through the transformative power of the sport. We firmly believe that by combining education and boxing, we can empower our students to reach their full potential and lead fulfilling lives.

My approach

At Impact Boxing we are guided by a set of core values that align with the principles of England Boxing. These values include integrity, excellence, respect, inclusivity, discipline, teamwork, sportsmanship, and safety. By instilling these values in our students, we aim to create a supportive and nurturing environment where they can thrive both academically and personally. One of our signature programs is Project 12, a comprehensive 12-week program that takes place both in and out of the gym. This unique initiative combines boxing training with military-style life skills, providing our students with a holistic approach to learning and personal development. Through Project 12, we aim to equip our students with the necessary tools and skills to navigate life's challenges and build a strong foundation for their future success. We strongly believe that happy and fulfilled children are more likely to succeed academically. Numerous studies have shown that when children are happy, they are more motivated to attend school, engage in learning, and ultimately sit their GCSE exams. At Impact Boxing Gym, we strive to create an environment where students feel a sense of belonging and have something to look forward to. By fostering a strong sense of team spirit and providing exciting opportunities through boxing, we aim to make education enjoyable for our students and help them rediscover their love for learning.

By integrating the study of muscles into our curriculum, we provide students with a unique opportunity to explore scientific concepts in a practical and engaging way. Through activities such as analyzing muscle movements during boxing exercises, and understanding the impact of exercise on muscle growth, our students develop a deep understanding of the intricate workings of the human body. This interdisciplinary approach not only enhances their scientific knowledge but also fosters a greater appreciation for the importance of physical health and well-being.

English

Teaching English in an alternate way can be an exciting way to engage students and enhance their language learning experience. One effective approach is to incorporate writing warm-up routines. These activities provide students with the opportunity to practice their English writing skills while starting the class off on a positive note. By using creative prompts such as captioning images, students can improve their vocabulary, grammar, and critical thinking abilities. These interactive warm-up activities not only make learning English enjoyable but also foster a dynamic classroom environment that encourages active participation and language development.

Maths and Money Management

Teaching maths and money management in an alternate way can be effectively done in a boxing gym setting, offering a unique and engaging approach for students. By incorporating practical examples and real-life scenarios, students can learn mathematical concepts and money management skills in a hands-on and relatable manner. For instance, trainers will integrate fitness-related calculations into the training sessions, such as calculating the number of calories burned or tracking progress using graphs and charts. Personalized Boxing Assessment: Each participant will undergo an individualized assessment to evaluate their current boxing skills and fitness level. - Boxing Basics: Participants will learn proper boxing stance, footwork, punches, and defensive techniques. - Conditioning and Strength Training: Participants will engage in workouts designed to improve their overall conditioning and build strength specific to boxing. - Bag Work and Pad Work: Participants will practice punching combinations and work on accuracy and power through bag work and pad work. - Sparring Introduction: Participants will be introduced to controlled sparring sessions to apply their newly learned skills in a controlled environment. - Hiking and Running: Participants will also engage in hiking and running activities to improve their cardiovascular endurance and outdoor fitness.

Advanced Techniques: Participants will learn advanced boxing techniques such as feints, counters, and defensive maneuvers. - Advanced Conditioning: Participants will engage in high-intensity interval training, circuit training, and endurance workouts to enhance their boxing-specific fitness. - Mountaineering: Participants will have the opportunity to learn mountaineering skills and explore outdoor environments, fostering resilience and teamwork. - Functional Skills: Participants will partake in practical exercises and discussions to improve their maths and English skills, applying them to real-life scenarios. - Nutrition Education: Participants will learn about proper nutrition for optimal performance and recovery in boxing and outdoor activities. - Team Building Exercises: Participants will engage in team-building activities to improve communication, trust, and cooperation among group members.

Policy

The purpose of this policy is to ensure the safety and well-being of students participating in the boxing program offered by Impact Boxing Gym for schools. It aims to provide clear guidelines, procedures, and safety measures to protect the children involved, promote inclusivity, and recognize their achievements.

The boxing program is open to students aged 11-16 years old. We believe that this age range is suitable for introducing boxing as a sport and promoting physical fitness and discipline.

The program will run for a 12-week period, aligning with the school term. This duration allows for a comprehensive training experience and facilitates the development of boxing skills and techniques. Students are expected to attend regularly and be punctual to maximize the benefits of the program. Attendance and Participation:

Regular attendance is crucial for the progress and development of the students. In case of repeated lateness or non-attendance, there will be a three-strike policy. If a student accumulates three strikes, their place in the program will be offered to someone on the waitlist. This policy ensures fairness and allows for effective utilization of program resources.

Program Schedule: The boxing program will be conducted during term time and school hours only. We understand the importance of balancing academic and extracurricular activities and have designed the program to fit within the school schedule. The program can be organized as an extracurricular activity or integrated into the physical education curriculum, depending on the school's preference and available resources.

Inclusivity: The program is open to both boys and girls, promoting gender equality and inclusivity. We believe that boxing is a sport that can benefit individuals of all genders, fostering confidence, discipline, and physical fitness. Safety Measures: 1. Protective Gear: Students will be required to wear appropriate protective gear during sparring sessions to minimize the risk of injury. 2. Gradual Progression: Students will not engage in sparring until they have completed an 8-week training program. This progressive approach ensures that students have acquired the necessary skills, techniques, and fitness levels before engaging in controlled sparring sessions. It also allows instructors to assess each student's readiness for sparring.

3. Qualified Instructors: Our instructors hold an England Boxing coaching qualification, demonstrating their expertise in boxing training and safety. They are experienced in working with students of different skill levels and are trained to provide guidance, supervision, and support throughout the program. Assessment and Certification: After each 4-week period, students will undergo assessment to evaluate their progress and development in the program. The assessments will cover various aspects of boxing skills, technique, fitness, and discipline. Students who demonstrate satisfactory progress and active participation will be awarded certificates. This recognition not only motivates students to set goals and work towards them but also acknowledges their dedication and achievements.
